I bought this box for my stationery at home. I sit on the couch when I work nights or weekends and this was the perfect size for the depth of the tray and the size underneath. I went through many boxes, tool boxes, craft boxes and even fishing lure boxes of the size I needed. I also wanted it to be transparent. This latches on each side of the top. I don't carry it with me so I don't know if the locking system is secure for where the lid doesn't pop out, but for me it's perfect
