There are so many fun things you can do in your creative photography adventures with color gels and a few flashes or fixed lights with colored glass in front. This portable little set of brightly colored plastic "gels" makes a great starter kit for beginners and pros alike. Don't expect these plastic gels to last as long as the old glass gels, they will curl and warp over time, but this set is so cheap you'll just buy another set when you're ready. My second set just arrived, my first set (different brand but almost the same) lasted almost two years. Since some of the plastic gels had gone bad I switched to a slightly different color of gel that I was using and then adjusted the flash accordingly. I also like to combine two gels for additional colors, so you can try that too. The Velcro strap that wraps around the strobe flash head ensures a perfect and tight fit, not easy to slip off. My other kit used a rubber band that covered the head of the flash, but over time it lost its elasticity. Velcro works better. I use it on my Nikon SB-800 flash and attach a Velcro strap to the flash head, then I can attach and detach it when the situation calls for it, or I can just leave it attached and open the barn door up and out. way if I don't want to use it. In addition to the colored plastic gels that slide into the clear plastic barn door, there is a reflective silver reflector that also has a black backing. I love this set and recommend it to others.
