Review on πŸ’Ύ Seagate IronWolf 6TB Hard Drive ST6000VN001: Boost Your Storage Capacity with Reliable Performance by Wiktor Skowroski ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Best thing for the money, glad I did it.

I wish the same disk were available in a greater capacity, but it isn't. The ST8000VN0022 has apparently been taken off the market and is currently unavailable. Pros: -Low noise, appropriate for a home PC. A maximum noise level of 28 dB is achieved. The majority of DVDs with the same content have 34 or more, which is just too much. - Devoid of SMR, which maintains consistent efficiency. In actuality, SMR can produce extremely nasty surprises even when using sequential recording; random access isn't even discussed. As there is no helium, nothing will evaporate over time, and the disk's properties and efficiency will not degrade. There is also the negative 5400RPM speed. This is not a drawback of the model itself but of the market in general. Disks with a respectable storage capacity and a rotational speed of 7200 revolutions per minute (RPM) all have the heads factory-set to perform like a Kalashnikov assault weapon, with no option to change this. Helium is also used, but this is only practical for use in server disks.
