Review on Dritz 1/4-Inch White Wash Away Wonder Fabric Tape - 25 Yards by Carla Anderson

Make sewing easier - great for beginners

I bought this wonderful Dritz Quilting Washaway, 1/4 x 25 yards, to help with a bushcraft kit I made. I have three young daughters that I like to take with me on camping trips, but because they are young I have to carry their gear in addition to mine. It's hard to find an ultra-light, high-load backpack with enough capacity for things like this, so I designed and made my own. I'm not very experienced at sewing, but after making a few small sample bags I started doing the real business. To help the cause I ordered this tape, and immediately the quality of my sewing work improved dramatically. Double sided tape keeps the fabric from shifting so I can focus on getting the stitch even. It's so thin that it doesn't seem to interfere with the needle and thread. It just does the job and holds the fabric pieces in place. This is particularly useful when you have sewn several pieces of fabric together, e.g. B. the corners of a backpack, plus a pocket, plus webbing loops that overlap in a seam. The only downside here is that the tape doesn't always stick as well as I'd like, but I won't take the star off because I think that's about it (if it was stickier it might hold the fabric more securely , but it would also likely catch the needle or thread and cause problems). When sewing with a fabric like Cordura nylon, the tape will also adhere significantly better to the "wrong side" (PU coated) side than to the lighter/shiny "right" side of the fabric. If you are new to sewing or if you are sewing intricate pieces with multiple layers of fabric (e.g. a tutu) I would highly recommend this ribbon. It lives up to its name "Wonder Tape". I highly recommend this band. It lives up to its name "Wonder Tape". I highly recommend this band. It lives up to its name "Wonder Tape".
