I was surprised that this product didn't have a strong odor. There is one, but it is very light and you hardly notice it when you apply it. This product is a sunscreen that is a little wet to the touch. After penetrating the skin, it basically loses its shine. Hand polishing gives a prettier version of what came before. For finished leather with cracks on the surface, this will help moisturize and protect what already exists, but it certainly won't restore the original smooth surface. I just tried it on a small piece of vegetable tanned leather. It definitely darkens this skin type from light brown to deep brown and lightens up a bit when dry. The second coat adds depth to the color, but I didn't notice any further color change with the third coat. In general, if you have a parched patch of skin, don't mess with it! Apply this material in several layers over the entire surface and let it absorb completely. If the article is then not worn too much, it becomes flexible again.
