Review on AUGOCOM RY S110 CATV Cable TV Signal Level Meter DB Best Tester 47-870MHz by Duy Desperado

Revainrating 2 out of 5

I regret buying this counter.

I tried very hard to test this tool but was disappointed. Below I list the problems I found. I find comment #2 the most unacceptable, which is why I am returning my purchase. 1. The manufacturer correctly states that this instrument is only suitable for CABLE TV signals and NOT for over-the-air broadcasts. Therefore, the tool does not recognize channel numbers for virtual or real channels from US broadcasters (there is a secret menu for converting possible channels for different countries, but NONE of the options will give you more US). Over-the-air channels.) The tool allows you to directly enter the frequency in MHz, so this is a workaround to test the antenna for receiving over-the-air digital TV. BUT: By entering the frequency directly, you will NOT be able to access the advanced functions of two-channel, edge and carrier-to-noise measurements.2. The meter is not selective enough, which means other signals from adjacent channels will leak out and skew the displayed reading. Example: I took a measurement when a certain TV show was OFF. The reading was surprisingly high. A few hours later, when the signal blew up again, the meter reading for that frequency was the same. This is a serious error that can make measurements unpredictably inaccurate.3. The backlight cannot be turned off (contrary to the instructions), which increases battery consumption.4. The power button is incredibly weak, but it always works in the end. The instruction manual (included on the CD) is not well translated into English. There was a section (about two different methods of measuring carrier-to-noise ratio) that I couldn't understand. The manual never mentions secret menus or the 6-pin DIN connector on the instrument. On a positive note, an adapter is included to allow this meter to be connected to standard American TV coax Type F connectors.

Pros
  • How do I switch the measurement channel to the US channel?
Cons
  • negative exists
