Review on Anwenk Nut Cracker: Heavy-Duty Stainless Steel Tool for Cracking All Nuts including Black Walnut, Macadamia, Hazelnut, Almonds, Pecan, and Walnuts by Kim Sanchez

Nice but hasty design

As someone with design experience and a US patent, this is a fine nutcracker. It is well made with very good materials and welds. This wrench can crack every nut I know. The NOT idea for hickory seemed like the best possible one. However, you only get one or maybe three chances to gently crack the shell before the finger must be fully gripped to hold the whole but cracked nut in place. Unlike a walnut with little flesh movement inside the shell, there is mostly no play inside to move around and get big chunks. My years of Native Pecans to Paper Shells experience tells me that only basic hardware was used and apart from bending and welding no machining was done to simply hold a nut in its tiny socket, allowing the bolt head to hold each nut securely before applying enough force spends to crack almost any nut, with the possible exception of almonds or Brazil nuts. It took a full half hour to open a hickory nut so I could get half the meat. As a quality tester, I see that BOTH touchpoints have been forgotten by the designer/manufacturer. The low-profile design fits nicely in a desk drawer, but with a little "mechanical nut" as a base, it's like a golf tee used to play softball when someone is struggling to keep it on the tee on a windless day. . Making a recess in the head of a bolt would be more like having two hands around a basketball and forcing someone to knock it out of your hands. All of this will probably work in a flat design, but maybe a tripod design that can be hung on a perforated board like measuring cups for better visibility for accessing any type of nut you want cholesterol lowering. Food.
