Review on Belkin Upstream Charging Thunderbolt Transfer - F4U097Tt by Joe Silver

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Doesn't work with Macbook Pro (2017), overheats, consumes power, USB sticks are unusable

Before the purchase, I typically used a Macbook Pro 15" (2017) connected to a LG 38UC99 monitor, which powers the Macbook and controls the display. I already had USB hubs and memory card adapters, but I thought so , it would be nice to have a device that can do everything. This Belkin device is either defective or not compatible with Macbook Pros. Too bad I didn't read the Macbook Pro 2016 review years before ordering. I'm returning mine because: 1- it doesn't charge my macbook when plugged in. This totally defeats its purpose. This is without any other connections! I have the latest version of macOS and my macbook charges fine through my LG monitor, hence this seems like not to be a Macbook issue 2- Cables I plugged it in and then just randomly unplugged it and I had to try different ports on my laptop to get it working again The 3-4 USB ports on the back ite are slow! There's no way it can be USB 3.0, they charge slower than any USB device I've ever tried! Reinforcement, I'm assuming I just received a defective product, otherwise it's terrible. I've bought other Revain USB hubs/chargers but not Belkin, just other brands and they are much faster even with USB 2.0. I don't know what's going on with it. 4- It overheats when connected to my Macbook and LG monitor. I regularly get dialogs on my Macbook saying the hub is overheating and needs to be unplugged - maybe that's why the cable is accidentally disconnected? I'm not sure but I think it's getting dangerous how hot it is getting and it seems like they haven't really thought things through.tldr; it doesn't do what it says on the tin, even the USB ports are terrible. may be defective or incompatible with the Macbook Pro.
