I've encountered various issues with the dock, replaced Amazon twice (meaning I'm on a third device now). I contacted Belkin support (very professional) and they confirmed a known issue with this type of dock and the newer MacBook Pro in combination with sleep mode. Belkin Support has stated that there is no way to update/update the firmware for the device. Belkin support essentially said that just a new docking station could fix the problem, but nothing is assigned to the ETA. My only options are to go back or live with the bugs/crashes. My choice: back. symptoms. Belkin Thunderbolt 3 Dock Pro may not function properly when your MacBook Pro wakes up from sleep. Symptoms of the error can be frequency problems of the monitor connected to the USB-C port (flickering, etc.), complete signal loss on the DisplayPort. Only restarting the computer in combination with possibly turning off the Belkin docking station can solve the problem. Additionally, when working on a MacBook Pro, the DisplayPort can lose signal at random times and possibly recover when the monitor is turned off and/or the DisplayPort cable is disconnected/reconnected. But it may not recover, at that point a reboot/power cycle may be required. The MacBook Pro may experience a kernel panic and freeze completely when disconnecting/reconnecting the monitor cables (USB-C and DisplayPort). First device I've failed to recover from a single displayport failure and the displayport failed completely. The 2nd and 3rd blocks behave the same when the Mac is restarted/turned off and the dock is normally allowed. I've also tested different video cables and monitors on different ports, different Thunderbolt cables (including the original Apple TB cable) for errors and/or malfunctions. My setup: I have a 16" MacBook Pro, purchased November 2019, macOS 10.15.61 x 4K ViewSonic via USB-C to HDMI directly connected to Mac2 x 2K (2560x1440) monitors (1 with USB-C to HDMI, 1 with Direct DisplayPort) connected to a Belkin Thunderbolt 3 Dock Pro Optional 1 webcam via USB 3, 1 external SSD (for Time Machine) via USB 3 Belkin Dock connected to left side Mac, 4K ViewSonic to right side Mac Findings: Power saving settings to prevent computer from going to sleep with automatic graphics switching Limited stability over a few hours and/or weekdays Disabling automatic graphics switching also results in longer periods without crashes no question anyway (10+ hours per day on weekdays , plus 2-4 Saturdays/Sundays) Summary: I am a huge Belkin fan and have used and trusted this brand for over 15 years If they release a new hardware version I will try again. But until then I have to try to find another solution. Since Belkin is already aware of this issue, I wish they would post recommendations on Revain and throughout the web so that no one has to spend as much time as I did during my extensive "beta testing". Maybe Apple also has room for improvement, because a defective dock shouldn't trigger a kernel panic.
