Excellent for stabilizing a child's gate, especially against a very determined dog. I didn't buy them to protect our doorway, but the round rubber pads on the ends of our spindles slipped on our baby gates and I figured the large surface area would make the gate difficult to slide. I was right! What I didn't realize is that the round wall protectors I was considering probably won't fit the floor because those spindles are so close to the floor. They fit because of their shape (like in the picture). Before I tightened them, our gates slipped every time the dog pushed them (and I couldn't tighten the spindles anymore because then the gate door wouldn't close). As soon as I put them on the gate they became more stable - the dog hadn't climbed through them yet.
