This information was very helpful, so I'm posting it again here: ------------ "The flow restrictor is a piece of purple plastic. in a round piece of metal. To remove it, twist this piece of metal so that that the small hole in the top of the "ball" is facing up and place the flat side on a hard surface. Insert a thin screwdriver into the small hole on the top and press down. A purple water stopper and an off-white piece of plastic and a black plastic disc will come out at the bottom.Finally, replace the gray piece and rubber disc and install the shower head."------------Also thanks to the customers who recommended to install the flow valve if you want to remove the flow restrictor. We have this valve flow: KES K1140B3 shower head shut-off The flow valve helps control the amount of water going through the shower head. We can control the flow to a large or small flow. As for the filter, this is an added benefit that I haven't compared water to test strips for water.
