I've been thinking for a long time which inline skates to buy my 7 year old daughter first. Candy Girl's skates look great, but they're too expensive for something she's growing out of. They only make an "adjustable" pineapple-themed skate, but they weren't there when I went shopping. They're pretty sturdy, but mostly comfortable for a wider/larger foot. I chose size 4 although my child wears size 3 shoes because they can be laced and canvas is not as stiff as leather or faux suede. It's true they may not last as long as a $100 pair, but for $50 if I need a new pair in 2 years it's less of a pain. As for the lucky gift, my kid got them a week ago and she wears them all. all day long around the house and at the dining table! Perhaps the most popular gift of all time.
