I have bought two of these items. The first came as a Christmas present that I bought before the holiday and I can't return it. I bought a second one hoping the original block I bought was an accident but the second one had the exact same problem. When plugged into a known-working outlet, the blue LED will illuminate for approximately 5 seconds and then turn off. The manual says to contact tech support, which I do. They both have EXACTLY the same problem which is usually a sign of a manufacturer problem or a foreign model with a different electrical load being sold in the US market. I work in the consumer electronics industry so I know my business and I run into these issues all the time.
