I used this pair to support my heavy tarp which was first used to support a holdall on my 18ft boat. With proper canvas straps on the upper, it stayed in place well and didn't fall off. However, I noticed twice on the road that my rear handlebars just broke. I'm not sure if this was due to the vibration that raised the support leg. I screwed them on pretty tight. I still give it 5 stars as it exceeds my expectations and withstands travel and wind for 2 trips of 550 miles. For me, the initial installation just seemed like a chore of having to cut my own straps and buckles to secure the case at the correct height. .Update: 2nd and 3rd ride, 1 bar keeps breaking under pressure. The twist lock seems to be wearing out. appeal to mfg. -2 stars
