Properly fitted they are a blessing. If not, then it's a nightmare. How to do it right? 1. Use a stud finder to look for studs or electrical wires. If you try to drill them into a stud you will have a big mess in your drywall as they leave a big hole because they don't penetrate the wood. 2. Pre-drill the hole with a 3/16 bit. You don't have to, but it will make your life a lot easier. First, you can place the anchor better because the drill bit is more accurate, and second, you don't leave as much dirt on the ground from a drywall.3. I used a DeWalt 1/4" cordless hammer drill to slowly drive it into the wall. Slow is the key, otherwise a lot of paint will come off the wall. These 3 steps guarantee good results.
