Sometimes I feel like I'm the last guy on the planet to use FireWire. I have an old Nikon slide/film scanner that uses it and there simply isn't an equivalent modern replacement for it. I've put together a new build of a micro-ATX form factor computer with somewhat limited space. I wanted to transfer my old FireWire card to a new computer but couldn't due to an interference issue between the heatsink on the SSD and the 1X PCIe slot. So I looked at the path of the mini PCIe card and the mini PCIe to PCIe adapter card. This card works great with my old scanner and connects it easily with a 25ft FireWire cable. I am using this mini PCIe connected to a StarTech PEX2MPEX mini PCIe adapter. Both are perfect for my size and performance.
