Review on Five Star Amplified Rotation Installation by Brian Vasquez

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Talk about trial and error!

*This review may be long but could save you a headache during installation*This is a difficult product to review simply because at the end of the day I was able to achieve what I set out to do the local should bring channels live. I live in a rural area and can now receive 11 channels with the antenna pointed at a town about 45 miles away. How I got there is a whole different story. Firstly if you install this antenna and go straight from the antenna to the control box and then from the control box to the TV you shouldn't have any problems and it would be an easy 5 star rating. When you install and hook up an already installed coax cable in the attic with connectors and splitters to connect to all your TVs throughout the house, things get more complicated. Time, since the antenna does not come with detailed instructions. Attached are assembly instructions and a diagram of how it should be installed. Nothing to help troubleshoot or tell you how to install with existing cables. The scope of delivery does NOT include a mounting bracket or assembly stand! I actually used a directv stand and mount that I already had. The coupler on the antenna occupies a 1 inch rod. So I inserted a Directv rod outside of the connector sleeve and drilled holes in it to get the tensioners through. (See images.) - The antenna rotation controller will only work if it is connected directly to the antenna or possibly to a single connector. I found I couldn't get it to spin after any splinters. No controller is required unless you intend to ever rotate the antenna. The more connections in your cable, the worse the picture quality. - The 40ft cable that comes with the antenna is LITTLE. I bent one of the wires at one end and when I tried to straighten it it broke. The connector at the other end is defective. She went to the trash can. - Yes, you have to rescan every time you turn the antenna to search for new channels. - There is no way to know which way the antenna is pointing after you turn it, you have to look from the outside. I hope this saves you time and headaches. The picture quality I have is great and I'm happy with the 11 channels I'm getting right now. It took me some time, frustration and head scratching to figure it all out!
