I have cycled aquariums many times and in most cases the process took 3 -6 weeks. I haven't seen any noticeable difference from other nitrifying bacteria in bottled products, they may have sped up an otherwise slow cycle, but since I had no control I can't say they made any difference. In each case, it took several weeks to detect nitrate production and 3 to 6 weeks after installing the tank to see a 24 hour conversion of 2 ppm ammonia to nitrate (0 ammonia, 0 nitrite). This wasn't much different than the tanks I installed without the additive. This one was different. I dosed the new tank to 2ppm ammonia. After 24 hours I was already seeing nitrates. Usually there are two phases, Ammonia -> Nitrite, then Waiting -> Nitrate. This processed both ammonia -> nitrite and nitrite -> nitrate in less than 24 hours. I was very surprised. It still takes another 3-4 days to get to zero ammonia and zero nitrate and it would be nice to dose ammonia and test for a while to make sure the cycle is stable but I think this product has the Cycle time saved and operate your aquarium carefully before adding animals! This product will likely speed up the process, but check it out to be sure.
