Review on πŸ”Š Compact UWAYKEY Bluetooth Amplifier Board: TPA3116D2 Chip, Class D AMP Module for DIY Wireless Speaker by Jackie Bear

Works pretty well for essentials. The sound is a bit dull. Prone to noise.

I bought this primarily to replace an aging amplifier that broke and seemed more problematic than a repair. The sound seems a bit more muffled than I'm used to - like there are too many filters or something. It may be designed to sound like it has bass boost, but it reduces audio clarity significantly in everything it does. Funny thing is, I could swear I accidentally got it to sound clear. At first I thought it wasn't enough power (I used an old, not-so-good 12V plug and they benefit from a bit more voltage, but then the old amp pulled through). It seems that if there is such a thing, it is more difficult to reproduce than this or even my imagination. However, I don't think you can expect clear sound quality. When I hooked it up to the mixer, I noticed another annoying problem: it's much more prone to noise. I guess that's not much of a surprise as it's pretty much left open to allow for that Bluetooth connection and I might try putting it in some sort of metal case later to see if it works better, but it definitely has Picked up annoying noises that my other amp didn't pick up. (It's worth noting that this is not a ground loop fault as they are not connected to the same power supply and this happened even when I unplugged them entirely.) Part of this may be a mixer fault (it's not the best). I'm sure, but the fact that no other amp has used it speaks volumes. All in all, this is a good choice for a cheap and basic amp that you can fit into almost any build that can even accept Bluetooth inputs, but if you want really good sound then this probably isn't the way to go.

Pros
  • Receiver and Amplifier
Cons
  • Long time
