Check the cable for defects

The first cable received had notches in the jacket near the connector strain relief that were deep enough to reach the core. I decided to replace it instead of just returning it, hoping it was just an accident and not a manufacturing defect. To my disappointment, the new cable left the same tool marks as the first cable, in the same place, albeit not as deep. My guess is that the device/tool used in the manufacturing process accidentally cuts the soft silicone when gripping. I have checked the markings with the product's cable manufacturer, in addition to checking the flexibility and feel, and I can confirm that these are indeed silicone covered conductors. I have already returned another brand that incorrectly advertised a silicone case (which turned out to be PVC). After much searching it turned out that this is the only SAE 10 AWG silicone cable currently available from Revain so I have to deal with the notches on the ends of the cable. too small and useless. Given my previous statement in conjunction with the cuts above, if used in a non-stationary application or subjected to repetitive motion, the wire can be expected to break at the jagged point after minor use. When plugged into a suitable outlet on both ends, the connection appears to be watertight/stable (speculative as I haven't tested it). Finally, connectors are subject to the inevitable effects of corrosion, which is common with all poor quality connectors. One disadvantage of silicone cables is that the typical application of silicone grease (dielectric grease/ball grease) to the connectors can be damaging. If care is not taken when applying, lubricant can spill onto the silicone sleeve, accelerating the breakdown of the finish (much like adding oil to a rubber bushing). Having said that, I would still carefully apply some silicone grease to the connectors to prevent corrosion and also because the cap/cap on each connector does not provide a watertight seal. When the cable is live, I strongly advise against submerging the cable ends in any conductive liquid/water (even with the protective cap on). I would also advise against leaving one end on the ground when live as puddles from precipitation or accidents can easily short out the terminals. The sheath is thick, however I cannot yet confirm the authenticity of the caliber stated in the product description or the composition of the conductor. My application requires me to cut it in half and rest assured I will edit this if anything seems fraudulent.
