Review on Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller for Windows Bundle by Stanislaw Jastrzebsk ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Matches the description completely, very satisfied.

I use Linux Debian operating system. Works without additional settings. It even works through Wine in games like Left 4 Dead (2), Half Life 2, Alien Swarm, Soul Fu. In games on the Source engine, there were problems with mixed up joystick axes, but manually editing the control file fixed everything. Under Windows it works fine in Castle Crashers. Also, through Wine, I try to make it work in Dead Rising 2 (because the mouse slows down there) and Skyrim, but to no avail, the games do not see the gamepad. Perhaps these games require some special operation of the XInput API in Wine.

Pros
  • Convenient, not easily soiled, a full set of axes (two mini joysticks and two triggers) and buttons, a long cord with strain relief, works in Windows and Linux, it is possible to connect a headset, vibration feedback (if you don’t need it, it’s still a plus), wired connection in favor of no need to charge.
Cons
  • On the triggers, bambers there are traces of sweat from the hands, which then harden (a common problem on many mice and keyboards, when these deposits get stuck in the crevices and have to be disassembled and cleaned). Even when playing TrackMania Nations Forever, by default, the A button is for driving forward, and it became clear that with a long hold, the button moves away and you have to press harder. It's very frustrating to lose speed in a race without even knowing it.
