It works, but not right out of the box.

I wanted to share my experience with this product. This model doesn't have a frequency selector knob, so I'm assuming it's using the transmitted frequency and not "auto tuning" to the component you're trying to view the image from. The reason I bought this unit was because my HDMI input failed on my plasma TV and the Samsung J5500W home theater only has an HDMI output. When I first connected it to my Samsung J5500W home theater all I saw was no signal (blue screen). I came back here, read the reviews and finally decided to check out the settings of the J5500W. I connected the Blu-ray player to another TV with a working HDMI and went into the player's settings. The output frequency has been set to "Auto". My guess is that since the Portta is the device my Blu-ray player recognized, it was broadcasting a 1080p signal. I manually set the Blu-ray to 1080i output, plugged it back into the original TV and now I have a picture through the TV's component RGB input. It was a little frustrating at first, but I'm glad I didn't just throw in the towel and send it back without further research and testing. The product did not come with instructions explaining that you may need to adjust the device's output to make it work with TVs that only support up to 1080i. This can prevent a large number of returns in the future.
