What do you know? They work!

I bought these for a family member who didn't want scented or toxic deodorant as she has asthma. Bamboo charcoal deodorants seemed like just the ticket, but I was wondering if they would work. These mini moso bags from Moso Natural are 2.5 x 7 x 1 inches - in fact, one of my bags is 2.75 inches wide, but they can be compressible. Each pouch contains 50 grams of bamboo charcoal in a charcoal melange lined liner. Each bag weighs approximately 2 ounces. Each has an eyelet that you can hang or even attach a rope to to make it easier to pull them out of the shoe if you have very large shoes. I'm not sure what the content of the upholstery fabric is. Moso calls it linen. If it's linen, then it's covered with something; it looks like polyester. Apparently, bamboo charcoal acts as a deodorant, trapping large smelly molecules in its many pores. Due to its extreme porosity, bamboo charcoal can have a surface area of up to 600 square meters per gram. Moso recommends reviving the pouches once a month by placing them in direct sunlight. Not sure how well this works in winter when UV indices are low. Moso claims the bags can be reused for up to two years. Ever Bamboo, another major supplier of bamboo charcoal products, says a year. Your experience may vary. You'll know it's time to replace them when they stop working. Both companies suggest cutting up old bags and adding charcoal to the soil in your garden, where it helps regulate moisture. My family member is happy with it. She puts them on in her most worn shoes at night, and they don't smell bad in the morning. Charcoal bags don't smell either. You have no smell. The charcoal has trapped the offending molecules so they cannot escape. She is completely satisfied with Moso Bags, which came as a surprise. Conveniently, each sachet has a label in the side seam for you to write the date you opened the sachet - hopefully this will help you remember when you take it out for sunbathing and when it might be time to replace it . It's nice to find an inexpensive, non-toxic product that works. Moso bags may not suit everyone, but we're happy here. The theory is correct, so they're definitely worth trying for odor control.
