I can't comment on the durability of the product but I can say that it does its job very well. I tried a cheaper steamer in the past and gave up vaping altogether because it didn't work satisfactorily. This one, on the other hand, works as well as it can. I read reviews from people who get burned and complain. For me it was an indicator to buy this thing. Any steamer with foolproof or counterfeit protection will not give good results. The vapor of the J-2M is superior to all other cheap, reliable vapors. Note: I strongly recommend a metal pin (mandatory). It gets as hot as an iron when heated with steam and is essential for steam ironing, especially cotton. They sell vertical ironing boards that you can hang and steam iron your clothes on. I purchased a Sears half body mannequin during their recent sale which I use to steam/iron my cotton button down shirts. It irons out any creases like an iron, with the added benefit of being a lot easier than an iron. I tend to create random creases with a simple iron, which takes time and effort. The Jiffy steamer is very easy to work with using steam and a hot metal handle and somehow magically doesn't create random wrinkles. So far I am very happy with the steamer. By the way, assembling this thing isn't like anything else. Really high quality. It feels like the product resembles what I believe was created in the 1960's when companies took pride in what they produced.
