Good news first. This item fits my Dyson V7 Motorhead perfectly and allows you to use the HEPA filter included with this order or a Dyson OEM HEPA filter. Also, the HEPA filter that came with this model worked with my Dyson V8, which came with HEPA filtration. This is an affordable upgrade for the Dyson V7 or V8 non-HEPA stick vacuum. Also note that the non-removable standard filter in the Dyson V7 and V8 (non-HEPA models) cannot be cleaned. If these devices are used for a while, this filter will become more and more dirty. It is made of foam, similar to the oil filter on a motorcycle or vacuum cleaner. Bad news. Make no mistake, it's very difficult to remove the original Dyson non-replaceable filter so you can fit the new end cap that the HEPA filters screw onto. Dyson clearly did not design this part to be removable by the end user. It snaps into place at the rear of the engine block. Luckily it doesn't get stuck, but it takes quite a bit of effort to remove. If you try to pry it off you have a chance of damaging the motor. I've tried using various tools used to work with a computer and a mobile phone, but to no avail. Including various plastic tools and things that look like pickaxes. What helped with prying it out was grabbing the old end cap filter with a large magazine vise and prying it off (without twisting it). This scratched the end cap (which will be replaced with parts from the kit). Note however that unlike the video on the product page where they have already removed this part and it looks like it will just slide out, it doesn't! Good product, works well, difficult to fit a new part but you only have to do it once and then it's easy to change the filter, just unscrew and screw.
