The docking station does its job.

My wife and I use HP laptops for work so I have two of these docking stations in two locations around the house. They are good for charging a laptop and connecting to keyboards, mice and monitors and don't take up much space. My only complaint is that it has a VGA connector and two DisplayPort connectors. It would make a lot more sense to replace one with HDMI. I work around this by using an optional HDMI to DisplayPort adapter on one dock and a DVI to DisplayPort adapter on the other. You just

Docks do not have a power cord

Anyone who said a power cord was included was wrong. nothing like that happened. I bought it thinking it would work fine as long as it came with a cable. But unfortunately it is not. Only buy it if you intend to buy the cable separately.

Useless! Docking stations

It doesn't charge my laptop when plugged in and the plug is closed when plugged in so I can't even use the laptop's power cord when it's plugged in . Useless!

  • Always liked
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than others

Can't get Displayports to work

I've tried everything to get Displayports to work, including troubleshooting online, downloading drivers and firmware. All other ports are working properly. It seems to be a general problem. I'm glad I got an extended warranty, I'll use it!

Pros
  • 1 year trial
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Includes 65W power adapter

Desperately needed an HP Dock to replace and was cheaper than a new one. Works right out of the box and includes a power adapter.

Runs like a champ on my HP Elitebook 840 G5

I recently changed jobs and my new company laptop is the HP Elitebook 840 G5. I have another dock for this at the office, but decided to test this one out at home to use with my home monitor and wireless keyboard and mouse. This works great for me. The LAN socket works the same as all USBs. I'm writing this review because the answers people have posted have been confusing. Some people have said this doesn't work with the HP Elitebook 840 G5 - I can confirm it so I'm hoping this helps someone…

Works well AFTER fixing the critical issue

I bought this dock and two DisplayPort monitors. I put everything together and ran into a critical issue - the monitors would turn on for a few seconds and then turn off for a few seconds. This repeated forever. After a few hours of research and testing, the decision was made to update the HP docking station firmware to version 2.33. (I had version 2.27 and version 2.30 didn't solve the problem). If I hadn't been able to fix this bug the two monitors I bought for it would have ended up being…

It works, basically!

I'm an IT Support Engineer and have been working with them for several years. Bad design and cheap in my opinion. I had a broken one at work and was so frustrated with replacing these docks that I easily broke it on my knee. HP needs to rethink its docking stations. I bought this for isolation, for my wife; whose working model needs this docking station to work better at home. Just recently, the slider on the side where the laptop was connected came loose and all the connected monitors stopped…

Does not work with EliteBook 840 g5

I bought this to work with the new HP EliteBook 840 g5 laptop. This computer didn't fit as the g5 version doesn't have a DisplayPort connector - only HDMI. The UltraSlim docking station does not have an HDMI port, only DisplayPort. The g5 laptop docked with no issues, but since the dock doesn't have an HDMI port, I had to use DisplayPort. There was no signal from the docking station on the DisplayPort connector, so the external monitor didn't work. I tested the cable on another DisplayPort…

Pros
  • 1 LAN/Ethernet port, 1 line-in, 1 line-out
Cons
  • There are more interesting options.
