Review on πŸ“‘ Advanced Radiation Detector Software - RADEX by Mark Jefferson

Professional Geiger Counter

For a field technician, radiation detector standards are more demanding than for an "amateur scientist", and this Geiger does his job well. I was a little surprised at how accurate it is for what I paid for it. Basically, up to 999 microsieverts per hour are measured. This is the same range as SE International's Geiger Counter Inspector+ or Rad Alert. The range of the PRM-8000 is slightly higher (about 2 milliSv), while the Monitor4 measures up to about 500 microsieverts per hour. Antique alarm clocks or radium hands typically measure less than 5 microsieverts per hour, which is in the range of our simplest model. I can hardly imagine a consumer product that measures more than 1 millisievert per hour. A typical example: the effective inhalation dose of 1 mg of pure natural uranium is only 0.2 millisievert, which is within the range of this Geiger. The biggest problem is not only the range, but also the accuracy over a wide measuring range. That's what impressed me the most about the RD-1212, and that's why I gave it 5 stars. Since receiving it I have tested it carefully in the field and at the factory where I know what readings should be displayed and this little instrument has been accurate to within 10% of our industrial equipment and quite often right in the field. . This is clearly professional equipment. Thank you guys!
