. Luckily it stays surprisingly cool. As with most chargers of this type, the device needs to be placed fairly accurately in order to connect. Once I found that sweet spot, I simply marked the phone's position in relation to the word "Koolpad" and set it to the same distance from the imprint each time I charged it. It is used for the Nexus 4 phone and Nexus 7 tablet (2013). Nexus 4 had 2 cases and it charges through them. They were similar - thin hard backs with faux leather and a hinged lid. Nexus 7 has no case. I can load it up by laying it across instead of flush - just so it fits better or feels more secure. Charge times are very quick when I plug in the power adapter that came with my phone, not just the USB that came with the Koolpad. I am absolutely satisfied with this device. This review is about a black rectangular model with the sound on. If you select Mute and have a large phone, it can be difficult to see the light that indicates a proper connection.
