First, as many reviewers say: this is not a Covid mask. Now for the actual review, the material is soft and smooth, although not as silky smooth as other Ice Weave gaiters I've owned. If you look into the light you can see the grid. Fits my wife well (tall but average build) and fits me a little tight (medium height guy, a little heavy), especially around the ears. I thought this would be an issue for me but the snug fit helps keep it in place and after a few minutes I forget I'm wearing it. Breathability is the perfect balance for outdoor activities. It's easy to breathe through your nose and probably blocks 80% of the dust and pollen we would otherwise inhale. Again I forget I'm wearing it after a few minutes. Yes, if you breathe heavily through your mouth you can pull in tissues, but so can most light tissues. If you're looking for something for heavy training, maybe try a dedicated training mask (a lot more than $$$). The durability seems to be good. We have worn them 3 times, hand washed, then 3 times with no signs of wear. The fit has remained unchanged. Overall, this is one of our best purchases for its intended use.
