Good filter, but sensitive to leaks around the threads

I have installed several filters similar to this during my 12 years of as a Plumber. This filter went into my own house. I chose this one because the cost was good, and the unit seemed heavy and solid. I did run into some issues after I installed it. I used reducers to get down to 3/4”, good quality tape and pipe dope just as I have always done. The fittings went into the housing very loosely. I was a little concerned but was cautious of over tightening and breaking the plastic housing. The next day it was leaking out of two small holes on each side of the inlet and outlet. This alerted me the housing was cracked, even though the fittings were not in too tight. Best Buy sent me a replacement. I installed the replacement, but it was leaking around my threads on both ends. I gave the fittings a very small turn to try to stop the leak, but just a fraction of a turn cracked the housing. I contacted ispring customer service, and they sent me a new unit with No questions asked! The representative that was assisting me , Sean, was very helpful! He gave me some advice on how to prevent thread leaks and the loose fit of the fittings. 3rd time was a charm! His advice worked! I was almost ready to throw in the rag on go with a different unit. Excellent customer service! I have never had a filter be so sensitive to leaks around threads. So, very important, you MUST wrap the threads with Teflon tap several time, much more then you would expect! If you are using the thin white tape, wrap it at least 10 times around. If you are using heavy duty tape at least 6 times. This does work!
