Helpful, but takes some figuring out

I like this pillow, but figuring out how best to use it requires some experimentation. The pillow can be oriented in several ways, depending on how you sleep and what feels most comfortable. I am a side sleeper, so I can’t offer any insights for people who sleep on their back or stomach. When the pillow arrived, I immediately replaced the "soft” insert with the "hard” (firmer) one, and I can’t imagine ever using the "soft” one (and for anyone who wants the pillow to be still softer, this insert can be removed altogether). I find that I need to get my shoulder right next to the edge of the pillow to be most comfortable. The pillow comes with a cover that is relatively easy to remove, wash, and replace. (I machine-washed the cover on the delicate cycle in cold water and air-dried it.). The texture of this cover is a little rough, so an additional pillow case is useful. (Note: this pillow is queen-sized, so regular pillowcases don’t fit.) An additional cover may reduce some of the air circulation for this pillow, but the surface will be less scratchy.Overall, this pillow does provide good head and neck support, with considerable flexibility in height and firmness. The trick is just to experiment until you find the right combination of orientation, height, and firmness that feels best for you.
