Brilliant idea of growing resistant plants/plants using fish waste instead of fertilizer. But it takes a lot of knowledge to keep a garden sustainable; which means a lot of work to breed these tiny bugs. Of course, you soak these little seeds to your heart's content and then put them in pods to grow. Good. These sprouts are growing great and they keep following the same clockwork routines to keep these bastards happy. Spring. Here's the problem with aquaponics. They get that weird sweet and harsh amalgam smell, who knows what that is, as the roots develop through the growing pods into the bed. On the inside of the bed is this insidious film of slime, which one can only assume is a waste product that seeps into the bed through the grow pods. You can follow the instructions on T and you may or may not succeed. I somehow managed to breed mold in my pods after about a month. Nothing special as I didn't want to take wheatgrass or sprouts. I just wanted to see if anything would grow before trying to grow other plants in this tank. The mold most likely developed from seeds that didn't finish germinating and weren't uprooted immediately (this is on me). I took the pods apart and cleaned everything up, so now I'm going to grow something else instead. But here's the thing. If you are an aquarist, you also know that this aquarium needs other add-ons that are not included in this aquarium. In fact, one of their brochures says that if you're keeping a beta in your tank, you should invest in a heater. However, if you have no idea how to care for an aquarium and this is your first aquarium, read about aquarium care. You need to understand how to add water because it evaporates and add a little water conditioner every time you add water. You must empty the water tank. Period. Over time, waste and putrefaction build up and kill your fish. You may need to purchase a different filter system. I'm not a fan of this, but considering the size of the tank, it's ok. Also, it's probably best to rotate the tank (and yes, I know how small it is, but you can still kill the fish by shocking it) before placing the fish in the tank. You should probably clean this pump at least twice a month instead of once a month because you won't believe what's in this thing. That's a lot of work for such a small pool. I personally like my other tanks. and this one will hang nicely in my child's room.
