WARNING: My SD cards are corrupted

Let me first say that I am a wedding photographer. What's on those SD cards is literally my livelihood. This is the second Transcend 3.0 multi card reader I have purchased. The first one stopped working after a while and I thought it would be good as long as it lasts so I bought the second one which I think was my first mistake. I came home from a wedding yesterday and inserted my second shooter's SD cards into a Transcend device. It started reading the first 20 or so images but wouldn't load after that. I thought it was just slow as their card is a bit slower than mine. Nothing after a 10 minute wait. She shoots with two card slots, so I put her CF card in instead (which worked and I deleted the files, thank goodness!). After that I put my Lexar 128GB 150MB/s SD card into the same card reader. He started reading the first 20 or so pictures and then. Nothing. The program I use to select images told me "I should have formatted the card before using it - do I want to format it now?" So I did it on my business partner's computer with a different card reader (the same one Transcend brand) tried. I was again told that I must format the SD card before it can be used. I tried it on my laptop, same error message. I put it back in my camera to see if the files would load and an error message popped up saying the card was corrupt and needed to be formatted. It's definitely that SD slot on that card reader that's causing problems. Luckily all three of us shoot with two card slots in our cameras, so I copy all the images to Dropbox via my laptop before selecting them, causing a big pause in my production process. Two things: First, PLEASE PICK UP. YOUR WEDDINGS WITH TWO CARD SLOTS. That could have ended very badly. Second, don't buy this card reader. I bought it in May 2018 and it is now October 2018. It is not old. I'm done with this brand forever.
