Well as the proud owner of (now) 10 shaving brushes I didn't need another and was very happy with my Semogue 830 Boar Shaving Brush but this shaving brush made a bunch of lists as a boar brush to meet. I decided to try it as a gift for myself for $25. I only buy brushes with plastic handles. Maybe a bit biased, but firewood and water have issues. The handle is comfortable to use and is made of acrylic and is completely water-resistant. It comes with a plastic bracket. I don't need it, but if not then it can be a gift. Knot 25 mm with loft 59 mm. The brush itself has a nice solid base, making it easy to run it over a washing machine or pick up a shaving brush. (I lather my face) This works just as well for cup or palm foam. In 8 days of direct use with 2 shaves a day (try to break the brush), the initially only slightly "scratchy" bristle ends have become very soft. One thing I admire about this brush compared to my Semogue 830 is that the Semogue is bulbous, almost like an English-made badger brush with lots of wayward individual bristles angled at a 70-foot angle. This brush is almost intact, its fibers pointing straight ahead. He lost 2 stubble the first day and 10 1 or 2 the next days but not since. During the first two shaves, the brush foamed a bit. Even with a 5 minute soak, I had to reload it from the bin or washer for each pass. But after about 4 shaves I usually get 3 passes and a buff if I charge it hard for 60 seconds to start. Some people say you should only use such a brush on triple milled hard washers. Well, that's nonsense. This brush is great for everything from cream to grains to hard wash. However, I will admit that as a beginner you will find it a little easier to use this type of brush on a hard soap puck or bathe with something like Mitchell's Wool Grease Shaving Soap than a soft badger hair brush. Make sure you soak the brush in warm water for a few minutes before use and like any natural bristle brush, rinse completely with the final rinse in cold water to help the cuticles fall back on the hair. Summary: Superb synthetic RazoRock Plissoft Monster Shaving Brush - 26mm for only $19 at Revain.com. A little BIG (reads like really big) but well built, soft, holds loads of lather, looks and feels amazing, lathers well. I have the $99 Kent Silvertip Badger BLK4 brush on Revain and I really feel like the Monster is softer and better than the Kent. Find out with YMMV. ----------- ---------------------------------------------------- - Updated after another 4 weeks and 15 uses of this brush (I shave daily) The tips continued to soften and I stopped using my Semogue 830 entirely. I broke down and bought the Best Badger Simpsons CH2 (only Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates can afford the silver tip versions) and it's now my "personal favorite" brush, but the Omega 81064 is on rotation.
