Quiet & Powerful best in my review

This belt-driven model replaced a very noisy screw model in our basement garage and is so quiet we can't hear it operating in the house overhead. It moves a 16-foot-wide old wooden segmented door effortlessly. Installation instructions are good but could be clearer in a couple of places. Installation takes some hours, as it says. Initial motion detection issues caused us to replace old sensor wiring, a bit of a pain. Wireless controls worked fine and synched with car controls easily. This is…

Pros
  • install new garage door opener
Cons
  • Last genie I’m buying no customer help. Hard to program

Great buy! on my review.

I was able to install by myself. It was very easy, but it took me about 3 hours. After installation, I watched a YouTube video that made it very easy to program all the devices and set the limits. My wife and I really love the convenience this garage door opener has added to our lives.

Pros
  • Very nice 👌😊
Cons
  • The mounting hardware for the Genie SilentMax 1000 opener is flimsy and prone to breaking

Received Error Code from Day One

Installed easy but getting error code that isn’t documented in manual or online (they just refer you to the manual). Reached out to customer support with Genie 2 weeks ago and no fix yet.

Pros
  • ‎Includes 140 volt belt drive garage door opener for 7 foot high doors, 2 3-button preprogrammed garage door opener remotes, wireless keyless keypad, wall control with light button and vacation lock, safety sensors, hardware, batteries, detailed installation instructions and owners manual
Cons
  • The Genie SilentMax 1000 opener is not compatible with all types of garage door tracks

Genie tech said they’ll send a warranty part but I’ll have to pay a tech to fix it. The tech said a min charge of $150 to do the labor. The entire unit costed $220 and is 2 months old!Avoid genie. Not worth the headache.

Pros
  • Easy to install.
Cons
  • The motor on the Genie SilentMax 1000 opener is prone to overheating, causing it to malfunction

Quick and quiet in my review

Very quick and easy installation. I think it probably took me about 2 hours in total to complete the installation, although having an impact wrench for the nuts/bolts worked well to my advantage in terms of ease and speed to install. It’s also hard to beat the speed and silence of this opener. The sound of the door rattling in it’s tracks is actually louder than the opener, so you barely hear the whirring of the motor.

Pros
  • Very quiet and easy to install. I love it.
Cons
  • Didn’t work right! Had to take the dumb thing all down and rebox it and send it back!

2012 Silent Max 1000 Dead

I bought my Silent Max 1000 from Home Depot in 2012, and expected to get more than 6 years of use for my $350 including installation. Our Craftsman opener has been running without issue now for 20 years, minus a gear replacement that we easily DIYed. Over the last year, the electric circuitry in the Silent Max has been working only intermittently. It stopped working one day, then started up again a few weeks later, only to stop working for months in the dead of winter, then start again for…

Pros
  • It was a 4 hour reinstall on my part and well worth it..nice and quiet also.
Cons
  • The product instructions for the Genie SilentMax 1000 opener are difficult to read and follow

Great Opener in my review

My husband loves this opener! It is so quiet and smooth running, it's unreal! He hasn't had the opportunity to install this opener yet. We have one right now that I had installed about 5 yrs. ago. We had a power outage do to bad weather, and it fried the board I think. I'm hoping my husband can swap the opener units and not have to change the track and all! The track is the same, so I will provide the outcome as soon as I find out if this works. I'm sure it will! Thanks! Ok, my husband just…

Pros
  • ‎Lifts 7 foot high garage doors (8 foot with extension kit sold separately)
Cons
  • The motor on the Genie SilentMax 1000 opener emits a strong odor when in use

Being a new model the bugs weren't quite worked out. "After" I installed it, it didn't work. I called and the person onthe other end was nice but I didn't order customer service, I ordered a garage door opener that was supposed to work.If in my business we sold product that required the mfg to send a part to correct the problem we wouldn't be in business. It seemed they knew there would be a problem. The guy in customer service sent the replacement board that corrected the problem. It works…

Pros
  • The one we ordered was not in stock, so Genie upgraded to a SilentMax 1200. It works great!
Cons
  • The Genie SilentMax 1000 opener lacks versatility when it comes to customizing settings

Older model best in my review

I replaced a 9 year old exact same model ,power surge cooked circuit board, cheaper to buy this one then replace the board from Chamberlain. So same connection point a took old one down and had this one up in an hour.

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • The product warranty for the Genie SilentMax 1000 opener is limited and difficult to enforce

VERY Quiet Opener! on my review.

Bought this to replace one just like it. The original lasted over 8 years and was taken out by a power surge, so no fault in the product. What I like most is the super quiet operation of the opener.

Pros
  • Very Quiet
Cons
  • The remote controls have limited range, sometimes requiring you to be at a very close proximity to the garage door to open it

Poor quality not worth repairing

I have two Genie openers. The newest one is the SilentMax 1000.a piece of junk. It’s really quiet.doesn’t work. I believe the mother board is gone, but I’m not going to spend about $125 for the board. I’ll never buy another Genie product again.

Pros
  • very nice.....
Cons
  • The Genie SilentMax 1000 opener makes a loud beeping sound when activated, which can be disturbing to neighbors

Revainrating 5 out of 5

So quiet you won’t believe it.

This dc motor is so quite, it opens quieter than I can do by myself. Install good nylon rollers along with this to get the ultimate reduction in sound. On installation make sure the belt connector is near the middle of the track. I have a 8am door so I needed the extension, it fits at the door wall side. Also, very important, DO NOT use the wall switch to start the motor first time. You must use the buttons on the motor to set up door open and shut movement limits! This must be done first.

Pros
  • ‎Lithium Manganese Dioxide
Cons
  • The mounting holes on the Genie SilentMax 1000 opener do not align properly, making installation difficult

An excellent product

Ordered for a friend as a replacement. Was a breeze to install and even programmed the old transmitters and keypad. A perfect fit and recommended highly.

Pros
  • The instructions could be improved
Cons
  • Replacement of existing opener that quit after power outage like the other 100 I read about.

Previous 1 lasted 6 years

I purchased this item as a replacement for Genie Silent Max 1000 that I had purchased and installed in 2012. I was not happy with the fact that my 2012 Genie Silent Max 1000 stopped working. I believe I had a slight power sure at the house and it must have fried the electrical control board on this unit. I looked at simply replacing the control board, but there was only about a $60.00 difference in the price of the board, compared to a new unit. So I decided just to buy a whole new unit. I only

Pros
  • On time, in great condition works perfectly. Great value overall
Cons
  • The installation process for the Ultra-Quiet Genie SilentMax 1000 Garage Door Opener is complicated and time-consuming

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very Quiet! good for me

My neighbor and I installed it, but the directions were very vague and confusing! My neighbor couldn't help me finish the installation so I paid to have it finished! It works great! A lot quieter than my old garage door opener! I especially like the remotes already being programed!

Pros
  • Easy to install. Perfect replacement for old one at a good price.
Cons
  • The door sensor on the Genie SilentMax 1000 is unreliable and may not detect when an obstruction is present

This unit was modified by cutting out the structure that holds the light bulbs in the back of the unit. The flap door just hangs without being able to connect to bottom of the unit where it could snap close. Item was advertised as new but package damaged.

Pros
  • love it nothing to dislike.
Cons
  • THIS PRODUCT SUCKS! ONLY LASTED 3 MONTHS, NOW WE NEED A NEW ONE

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Stay away, track too flimsy. Comes apart constantly.

The track for this opener is horrible after just three months of use it has broke. Very flimsy. Have tried snapping back together several times, works a couple times then comes apart. I will never buy an opener with this type of track again.

Pros
  • It was easy to install directions were not much help
Cons
  • The Ultra-Quiet Genie SilentMax 1000 Garage Door Opener is extremely expensive compared to other garage door openers on the market

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very quiet best in my review

This door opener works very well. Installation took several hours. Used some of the old hardware. Needed to use Geenies motion detectors. Used the old wiring . Programming the individual car remote buttons is tricky. Got one done. Subaru recommends watching a specific video. Should be OK.

Pros
  • ULTRA-QUIET OPERATION: The SilentMax 1000 is an ideal garage door opener for garages attached to living spaces.
Cons
  • The Genie SilentMax 1000 opener can be difficult to program, requiring technical knowledge

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Upgraded from previous similar Genie

I purchased this unit to replace a previous/older Genie in the same model-line.That one was damaged by a lightening strike to the garage. This unit directly replaced the motor-drive unit and the new electronics are a significant upgrade from the prior (5 year old) unit. Easy to install, very quiet and actually less expensive than buying a replacement control-board.NOTE - for cold-weather applications (I am in NH) the belt-drive works much better than the screw drive.

Pros
  • ‎Door Mount,Wall Mount
Cons
  • The Genie SilentMax 1000 opener is prone to rusting, even in garages that are well ventilated

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy DIY Installation

This opener matched the existing two I already had in the other garage. Easy to install with common sense.Comes with everything you need. Easy limit and travel adjustments. Preprogrammed remotes are a nice feature.

Pros
  • Exactly what I neededGreat buy
Cons
  • The Genie SilentMax 1000 opener is not suitable for garages with low ceilings
