I really wanted this tripod to work because I love the weight, the folded length and the color! I had a classic MeFoto road trip that I liked shooting with a DSLR but didn't like the many swivel legs. I thought this camera with locking lower legs would be perfect for my small mirrorless system. In fact, despite my careful use of the locks, I found the locking mechanism unpredictable. I've been watching other users' videos to make sure I'm doing it right. Without my camera and tripod it mostly worked fine - sometimes the support broke but I put this down to user error. When I put on my Fuji Xt2 and 23mm Prime, it was like a circus trying to pin my legs down. I used it on carpets thinking it would mimic surfaces like sand. I suspect that when I moved the camera over the ball head there was enough tension on the legs to unlock them. I went from foot to foot trying to re-tighten them, then they collapsed again as I moved the camera. Two legs in particular were susceptible to this. I sent it back before the field test. (I was a bit nervous about the stability in a situation where my camera wouldn't fall on a soft carpet!) Instead, I went with the classic MeFoto Backpacker. I really wanted something of this size and weight, but was concerned that the discontinued Daytrip would be too short at a maximum height of 24 inches. I really hope MeFoto can figure out the functionality of this theme because it's such a beautiful place. by weight and appearance!
