GoPole is functional but has a few drawbacks, the first of which is crucial to me: 1. The slide in/out mechanism is finicky and unreliable. You have to rotate the sections just right to make them move, and you really can't do that reliably. After 1.5 years of use, the part got stuck forever and the GoPole had to be thrown away.2. The thumbscrew consists of two parts: a plastic handle and a metal screw. They are not securely attached to each other, so you have to a) glue the screw yourself, b) insert the screw into the plastic handle and gently screw the screw in, or c) use a screwdriver each time. A little glue fixed the thumbscrew problem, but there was nothing to do with the extension mechanism. I got the pole out in light rain and it accidentally fell into the water while kayaking, but it has never been submerged or exposed to salt water. A few positive notes: 1. The remote control holder is quite secure and worked well.2. The wrist strap screws into a standard tripod mount. I've used this all the time, but if you're relying on a bracelet I'd recommend putting some blue Loctite on the threads for added security. In the meantime I have switched to a SP Gadgets pole that has a much nicer mechanism: SP Gadgets Edition for GoPro POV Pole 37", black, large
