Lately I've noticed how carelessly the earrings are put together, which refers to the size of the pin versus the hole in the back. (It seems like you, I, and all of us should boycott virtually everything we buy now - in 2015 - because the companies that make what we buy no longer care about making a well-made product! ) I bought two sets of 14k gold round earrings in different millimeter sizes here on Amazon. The balls were as promised: the diameter of each ball is measured correctly. however, the substrates in each set were too loose. I have not worn a pair because I was afraid of losing one like I have in the past, which prompted me to purchase at least one of the sets. NOW the earrings will sit perfectly on the back of the earlobe with this backing. I'm severely allergic to metals like zinc, so I never wear jewelry. This product meets my needs so well that I ordered a larger set. Also, silicone doesn't irritate. whoever invented them was really SMART.
