It's great for catching litter, but once the cat has urinated on the mat it's very difficult to clean. You need to spray from the outside with a hose. Some urine got under the rug, but it's not clear if it leaked or hit the edge. A big part of my problem with this rug was my cat urinating on it, an existing problem with my cat. Therefore, I cannot fault the product except that it is difficult to clean. It catches dirt as advertised and its size means you can place your box(es) on it and it will cover a large area and stay in place.
