I'm a new fox hair color fan! I wanted to try something fun with my hair so I chose purple rain. I started with medium brown hair (so no prior bleaching or anything) - I applied it all over my hair and let it sit for a while. I think maybe 40 minutes? When I washed it off, I was pleasantly surprised. It was a beautiful deep plum color and my hair was super shiny! In the sun it looked very light purple. The color has actually stayed on my hair for the past 2.5 months - it has faded to a beautiful purple color. Since I was ready to try something new with my hair, I washed off the color. So I'm not sure how long it would have taken in general. Overall I really like arctic fox: the color is beautiful, the hair is shiny, lasts long, doesn't stain the sheets, I love that it's vegan and doesn't contain horrible chemicals. smells good. like grapes.
