I bought this to connect my thunderbolt dock to my laptop so the protruding cable doesn't stick out the side of the laptop 3" and potentially snag on something and potentially damage the USB C connector. I now have a nice right-angle dongle that only sticks out 3/4" from the side and neatly stows my heavy Thunderbolt dock cable in the back of the laptop. I tried a few right angle adapters first but the dongle works much better, less strain on the connector I liked it so much I bought a second one for my other laptop. The build quality seems very good and the USB-C fits very well on both ends as it should. I have included some photos so you can see the setup and better understand the reason for the purchase. Right angle keys are needed so things don't stick out to the side. I have tested an external USB-C enclosure with an NVME SSD both with and without this right angle key and the reference test showed no decrease in read/write speeds. Speed. I could only measure Thunderbolt 2 and USB 3.2 speeds. You need to test your Thunderbolt 3 devices to see if there is a speed difference. I'm not sure if this is actually a certified Thunderbolt 3 cable, but it seems to meet my needs. Pros: Good build quality, takes the strain off your ports, fits things you plug and unplug frequently to reduce wear and tear on your laptop port. Disadvantages: none.
