Review on KOR Replaces 50PAR20 Dimmable Waterproof: The Ultimate Lighting Solution by Michael Patilla

Works with Lutron Maestro dimmer switches the same size as the original PAR20 Halogen!

I love the color of halogen lighting, which is why nearly all the fixtures and lamps in my house have (or had) halogen bulbs. I would describe halogen lighting as a little less yellow than incandescent but not as blue as fluorescent, perfectly bright but not harsh lighting. The problem is that they use a lot of electricity and also get very hot. I have a 6 track fixture in my kitchen that uses 50w PAR20 halogen bulbs. I used to try to switch to replacing LEDs, but the lighting was so glaring I just couldn't take it. Even my husband, who is usually indifferent to such things, remarked on how horrible the strays looked in the zombie apocalypse. So I threw them away and went back to Halogen. But now that they are replacing LEDs with different Kelvins or color temperatures, I decided to give them a try. The 2700K to 3000K color range is my favorite so I went with 3000K. And to my surprise, I love them! The color temperature is slightly colder than halogen but still pleasing to the eye. See the photo with 2 bulbs on, on the left is the KOR LED, on the right is the native halogen. They're also a bit lighter, which is good for the kitchen. They work great with my Lutron Maestro dimmer switch, smooth dimming and no flickering. More importantly, every other brand of PAR20 LED replacement bulbs were much larger than the original halogen bulbs so they protruded from the fixture rather than being slightly recessed or at least flush. It looked terrible so I couldn't use other brands. The height measurement of KOR lights is 2.87 inches, while other brand lights I've seen are over 3 inches. If you need recessed lighting, it makes a world of difference. I have shown a photo of the original halogen bulb next to the white KOR LED bulb, the KOR is just a tad taller, maybe a few millimeters, and it sits almost flush in my mount which is perfect. I am very glad I found these bulbs, before my light used 300w with 6 halogens, now with KOR LEDs the whole light uses only 48w. I just bought a second box! En-KOR for KOR!
