Review on Burton Burke Hood True Black Outdoor Recreation by Mark Dahmer

Absorbs water (snow) like a kitchen towel

You know those hiking towels that feel like fleece but absorb water? I think this hood is made of the same material. After a day snowboarding in snowy weather, my son's Burton hood froze like an icicle and one day there was an incredible amount of water in the warm car. It was still damp after the morning rinse and wring at home, and we live in Colorado where everything dries overnight. Although this material resembles fleece, which is usually water-repellent and dries quickly, it is obviously a completely different and bad choice of material for winter and winter clothing. Outstanding functional design with one fatal flaw. If you want a fleece hood, buy another brand. It probably works better for warmth on non-snow days, but really, what's the point.
