I don't know what you mean by transparency so I didn't give a star in that area. In general the product does what it says on the tin, however I haven't gotten around to wearing them in the rain. They feel durable and are quick to put on. (when I thought it was raining) it would be nice if the ankle strap was a bit tighter or even adjustable. I wore them with stretchy Merrell Cham shoes and the metal hook attached nicely to the laces and the bow tie (the cord that runs under the sole of your shoe) was secure enough that I didn't have to worry about that loosening loosen the spats. My only concern was that the arch mountain would catch something on the trail and cause me to trip. However, this did not happen, I did not wear this product for more than an hour. All in all, this product does what it promises for the price. (Remember I haven't been able to test the water resistance in the field)
