Real question: Why would I bother changing the inner sleeves on my vinyl records? The most extreme example of "why?" I've experienced: I recently found a sealed original edition of "The Rite of Spring" by Ozawa on RCA, 1968. I paid a little more for it as it was still sealed, opened it up and found that the original RCA plastic inner sleeve had chemically reacted with the surface of the record, rendering the record, which was otherwise intact and fresh from the factory, permanent was damaged. It's safe to assume that RCA considered this inner sleeve a premium product in 1968, but time has shown the opposite. I've been using these MoFi cases along with many thousands of other people for at least 10 years with no noticeable problems. Paper and cardboard, factory made inner sleeves can scratch, scrape and scrape the surface of the vinyl when the record is removed; Notice how often the descriptions of used records for sale include the phrase "paper scratches" and "hairlines" for this reason. These MoFi cases are designed to minimize this type of drop out and as far as anyone can tell at this point they are also designed for archiving and are non-reactive with the vinyl surface. All new vinyl that goes through this is wet vacuumed. Use the Opera Consonance record cleaning machine with different types of Audio Intelligent record cleaning liquids and then replace the original inner sleeves with these. I'm also gradually replacing the inner sleeves of thousands of other records with Mobile Fidelity sleeves. I've been through quite a few packs of these inner sleeves over the past 10 years with no problems other than the fact that using them can be a little frustrating ie. The softness and suppleness of the materials used may require a little more. additional effort when splitting and pasting records. The sleeves cost about a dollar each after shipping, but if you're serious about keeping your vinyl, this is probably your best option. I've noticed some unbranded knockoffs in the lower price range, but having years of experience with this product, I think it's probably worth paying the extra money to stick with the brand name. If you're in a lot of trouble trying to keep your records, you might as well spend extra money. I consider myself more of a record listener than a collector, but I still want to keep these things in the best possible condition for as long as possible.
