I didn't review it when I bought it because I was distracted by the stamps I was making! unrealistically juicy. I bought this *three* years ago and have not yet had to use the rake I bought for it. Just as dark, crispy and juicy. I also think that the cube is much easier to work with if you draw several different colors, so a full notepad is not required. So my advice is don't buy a Rainer until you really need it. By the time I need it, I may have to buy another one because (thankfully) it expires. As for the ink itself, if you're painting with watercolors I would leave it on overnight. I've found that even if I use a heat gun on it, it still smears if it's not fully absorbed into the paper (watercolor paper or Nina, doesn't matter). But it's perfect for the senses, so go for it. When I want to go straight to watercolor I still use my ranger and I'm doing great, thank you.
