Do not buy this product, it does not fit, it is too short

Cons

Terrible design - hood release cable

I had to buy two of these and just stopped at one of those quick oil change places where they broke the last one I bought. If you pull forcefully, the thin plastic holding the cable will easily break. but everything has to change! Looks like I'm going to buy a third one now. It's just an awful design!

Pros
  • Best in the niche
Cons
  • Upgradeable

Don't waste your money

Terrible! The first broke on the second use, was replaced and broke on the fifth use. The plastic handle is poorly made, breaks. After the first one, I used two hands and tried to apply even pressure to it as I pulled. Still broken. I go to the dealer and pay for a good premium.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Some flaws

Wire interface on handle on two separate units.

The cable interface on the handle of two separate units was not strong enough to work properly. At that moment, when the handle was pulled, the cable was pulled out of the interface. The seller quickly replaced the first failed assembly and refunded 100% of the money if the second failed assembly failed.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Doubtful

Doesn't work (briefly)

Was excited about delivery, started right away. Very disappointed and frustrated after installation. The product is about half an inch shorter, I've tried making it work with more effort but to no avail. I ended up leaving it installed but not hooking the hood latch. Instead I rebuilt the old one, relocated it to the back of the front bumper and attached the shift knob to it and it works great.

Pros
  • Excellent overall
Cons
  • Hard to tell

The cable is too short!

Don't buy a 2007 Jeep Commander. So much time wasted. The cable was too short, at least a quarter of an inch, preventing the hood from fully engaging. It was supposed to be a 15 minute job but I spent hours trying everything I could think of to make the impossible possible. I ended up taking it back and modifying the original broken handle. Plans for the day were thwarted by false advertising.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Out of fashion

You get what you pay for.

I think you get what you pay for. It was the wrong length for my 2008 WK, it broke after about 3 uses because the cable was too short. (As with the cable itself, maybe the right length, but the case is too long for the cable to move properly its entire length, you'll have to modify it.) The product was ok to install, but overall the work is great annoying. I later bought a more expensive one from the parts store and that's ok.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks

Bonnet opens while driving

Easy enough to replace and install the old unit. The hood is easy to open. Apparently too easy. I opened the hood several times while driving. I tried placing the hood latch a little differently (before you screw it in you have to flex a little in all directions). There are no dice. I think the problem is that the cable itself is a bit shorter than the original which puts more stress on the trigger. This leads to unwanted emissions while driving (humps, wind, etc.). This moment is veryโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Heavy Duty
Cons
  • Damaged
