This is a very nice table, mainly made of solid wood with plywood only for the base, shelf and back panel. . The box is solid wood throughout, with the exception of the bottom, and while it's not dovetailed, it's still fairly well made. It's big enough for half a dozen remotes and other essentials like glasses, a phone, a flashlight, and some papers. Top, 3 open sides, drawer front and legs are in solid wood with perfect finishes. The solid wood legs are attached with 2 mounting screws each that fit into properly positioned threaded inserts in the frame. This makes the arrangement very strong. The veneered plywood shelf has cut outs at each corner to fit snugly on the legs and is supported by 4 standard metal insert shelf brackets. 1/4" holes are pre-drilled at the corners of each leg, so 4 more holes need to be drilled to move the shelf higher. When the simple assembly is done, the table looks very solid and solid. The good finish showed good detail in the texture of the oak which I would describe as a 'medium' dark oak - darker than our 'honey' oak floors but very attractive compared to the cream leather sofa. Although not sold as a bedside table, it can become one. Snip off a few inches from the bottom of the legs. Since the legs are not beveled, this is easy to do. When I did, the height was perfect to fit between our sofa and my chair. A fairly minor downside is that the back plywood panel on our table had delamination that was only visible from below and was easily fixed with glue and a clamp. Despite this small minus, we are very happy with the overall quality of this table and appreciate it. Excellent value for money and quality.
