At first it seemed like it was just thrown in a box with no packaging or instructions. It looked like it had been used before and was covered in scratches. In reading other Franklin Sports product reviews, I have noticed that other people have mentioned that the items appear to have been used upon receipt. Also, I was a bit disappointed. It's definitely inconsistent when thrown, so you're constantly moving to where you need to be to hit the ball after the ball is thrown, which kind of defeats the purpose. A younger kid can't figure out where to move every time, so they basically miss the ball every time and don't learn how to hit correctly. He throws shorter or longer than before and sometimes sideways etc. The balls are cheap and flimsy. The throw mechanism is also a bit crappy and takes forever. In terms of catching it's probably better as you can move to where you need to be to get the ball. All in all I would not recommend this product for the price.
