Review on LEGO Potter Calendar 75964: Building Magic to Plan and Play by Joe Jimenez

Not recommended for children who rely on adult help to assemble LEGO.

I'm an older man who didn't have much experience with LEGO other than playing around with my son's 'free form' LEGO sets as a kid. However, being an avid Harry Potter fan and a kid at heart, I decided to order this HP advent calendar for my birthday. I decided to open all "windows" in the calendar at once instead of opening one every day, so for the last three days I've been collecting these LEGOs. The only guidance for this is the small images of assembled LEGOs found on the back of each 'window' you open to see the LEGO 'gift' for the day. Some of the LEGOs were pretty easy to build, but some of them almost drove me crazy! (The big Christmas tree and mini train were the worst.) I think this LEGO advent calendar would make a lovely gift for a patient adult with nimble fingers, or an older child with one. However, I would not recommend it to anyone buying for a child who needs help building LEGO. The holidays can be very hectic, and helping your child build some of these LEGOs is likely to get your stress levels skyrocketing!

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Expensive
